Paul had to deal with many who were circumcised in flesh, but uncircumcised in heart. Those obsessed with their outward expressions, instead of inward transformations. A transformation that can only ever be accomplished by the filling of the Holy Spirit and faith in Yeshua.
Many have thought of Paul’s writings against those of “the circumcision” as being opposed to God’s law (torah), but was this really what he meant?
