The Pharisees often came against Jesus, telling Him that He is doing what is unlawful to do on the Sabbath. At first glance, it seemed like He continuously had no regard for this law. And this belief is evident in much of Christianity, where this 4th commandment has become a mere decoration on our tablets of the ten.
But did Jesus really break the Sabbath? Or is there a grave misunderstanding that has come about and caused great deception? The most concerning of all is that if our Messiah truly broke this commandment, it would mean He had sin, for sin is the transgression of the law.
I would like to submit, He was teaching something so deep, that it has flown over the heads of many – He has been trying to teach us the spirit of the law. Instead of teaching, it is abolished, He was actually teaching how to keep it *properly.*
