After multiplying the bread and fishes, Yeshua says something controversial: That Moses did NOT give them the bread from heaven, but rather it is the Father who brings forth bread from Heaven. This teaching was so controversial that much of the crowds left His audience.
It can become so easy for us to get fixated on the bread that God gives to temporarily satisfy, that we miss what the bread is actually pointing to. These people were dependent on the manna from Moses to save them, yet Yeshua said their ancestors partook in that manna and still died in the wilderness! God calls us to look upon the true bread that He has provided, the true bread from heaven that everything else points to.
If we worship the shadow instead of the substance it points to, we will likewise die in our wilderness – and that substance is Yeshua – not the laws of Moses.
