God granted the thief on the cross salvation at the last minute – without him ever being baptized. The thief on the cross is important! Because God used him to closely demonstrate what baptism means, even though he himself was never baptized. Everything that baptism fulfils was accomplished in the thief.
If we properly understand baptism, we can properly live for God. Because it’s supposed to be so much more than a sprinkle of water.

The thief didn’t require baptism because the new covenant had not yet been enacted.
Hi DF. The thief not requiring baptism because “the new covenant had not been enacted yet” could not be the reason. Because if that were the case, then nobody needed to be baptized before Jesus’ death. But as we read in John, Jesus and His disciples went around everywhere not only preaching the gospel, but baptizing:
Joh 4:1 Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
Joh 4:2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples),
Joh 4:3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee.
Hope that helps, many blessings
